Meet Steve - Rock Steady Boxer and Boston Marathoner.
I met Steve at the Indy Mini Expo—one of the incredible runners who stopped by the Average Athlete table. We struck up a conversation about the brand, and he was kind enough to share some of his story with me. From a Parkinson’s diagnosis to crossing the finish line at the Boston Marathon, Steve’s journey is nothing short of inspiring—and now, you get to meet him too.
Below is Steve’s personal essay, chronicling his transformative 18-year journey with Rock Steady Boxing (RSB)—a non-contact boxing program for people with Parkinson’s—and how it unexpectedly led him to marathons, mountaintops, and the streets of Boston at age 77. Now, with Boston 2026 on the horizon and 80 around the corner, he’s not slowing down.
His journey proves that resilience doesn’t come from being elite—it comes from showing up, day after day, ready to fight for your life.
Thank you for sharing your story with us, Steve!
